The co-creative exhibition EVROVIZION.CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES by ifa (Instutut für Auslandsbeziehungen) explores the current social and political situation in Europe and the idea of a European identity. The focus is on less visible and marginalised geopolitical and cultural spaces, in particular in southeast and eastern Europe. These are so-called semiperipheries and places of diversity that often play only a minor role in many international theoretical discourses and exhibition practices.

Artists from each of the 12 stations will join and continue the tour together with the others and thus change the space within the exhibition, open new topics and ask new questions for reflection, all the way to the last stations in Berlin where, through all these processes and changes, perhaps a different Europe from the usual one will be presented.

The goal of the exhibition is pointing out the current socio-political orders and illuminating the specific impulses of certain places, in order to generate a continuous development of space for dialogue. The exhibition title EVROVIZION is a construct made of similar and yet still different languages – Eurovisione / Evrovizija / Евровизия – a fusion of potential unities; a free version of potential togetherness.

The co-creative exhibition EVROVIZION.CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES by ifa (Instutut für Auslandsbeziehungen) explores the current social and political situation in Europe and the idea of a European identity

The artists and art collectives participating in the exhibition explore very different current socio-political issues in their works: the question of origin, personal and collective identity, history and mythology, the politics of memory and archiving, a critical view of neoliberalism, colonialism and nationalism, ruling stereotypes and the positions of the other and the different in relation to the socially dominant.

The exhibition also includes a traveling library, available to all visitors to the exhibition, a web presentation of the project and the MAGAZINE PRE-ISSUE which contains initial information about the project. Also, in each city of the presentation, a new issue of the magazine will be conceived, including EUROVISION.CROSSING NOVI SAD – realized with local partners and through the coverage of all additional contents and events of the project in Novi Sad. Eventually, a collection of different magazines is expected, as a specific “travel archive”.

During the presentation of the exhibition, November 26th 2021 – February 27th 2022, several accompanying programs will be held in Novi Sad, while in February 2022, an exhibition by the artist Henrika Nauman will be realized at the gallery of the Goethe-Institute Exchange Office in Belgrade.

EVROVIZION.CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES is an exhibition by ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) and is organized in Novi Sad in cooperation with the Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina and the Goethe-Institut Serbia. The exhibition is part of the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture program.

The Institute for International Relations in Culture from Germany, ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), conceives, promotes and realizes exhibitions on fine arts, design and architecture around the world; from Bauhaus history to contemporary art practice and contemporary photography. This artistic and cultural exchange is initiated by the ifa art department with its programs at the gallery in Stuttgart and the gallery in Berlin, its traveling exhibitions, its support of artists, exhibition funding, as well as programs for biennials and conferences. Ifa organisation is the oldest German intermediary organization for international relations in culture, supported by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, the state of Baden-Württemberg and its capital Stuttgart. https://www.ifa.de/en/
